Brain Dead is certainly no stranger to collaborative footwear, having joined Evolv for climbing shoes, Reebok for several nature-inspired offerings, and Oakley on a much-beloved cult classic. And after designing a unique, original silhouette with Kiko Kostadinov, Kyle Ng and his team are now also quite close with ASICS, so close, in fact, that they’re receiving a pair of GEL-Nimbus 9s to kick off 2023.
Even despite the lack of obvious, exterior co-branding, Brain Dead’s influence can be felt across the entirety of their ASICS GEL-Nimbus 9. This is due heavily in part to the vibrant, somewhat chaotic palette, which is almost entirely devoid of any neutrals. “Rio Red” and “Almost Apricot” helm the pair’s colorway, trading blows with pastel blues, loud oranges, and even a tinge of olive green. And to ensure one knows who exactly was responsible for the design, subtle “Brain Dead” text and the label’s signature head logo is placed along the tongue and left insole, respectively.

In other news, an atmos Staple Puma Suede is set to release next week.
