Emily Ratajkowski is the perfect match for vintage Roberto Cavalli. Back in the noughties, the designer specialized in fun-loving, flesh-baring party dresses—and Emily just wore one from the fall 2004 collection to a festive event.
Sourced from Brooklyn-based vintage collector Marie Laboucarié of Nina Gabbana Vintage—who has an eye for ’90s and noughties-era treasures—the cowl-neck midi (weighted in the centre to retain its shape) has ornate halter straps made from beads and pearls, a low back and a scattered devoré velvet pattern. On the runway, it arrived as a navy maxi dress, but Emily’s version is shorter, realised in ombré pink.
“It fitted her like a glove,” said Laboucarié, who listed the dress last week. “I love seeing vintage moments happening for Emily!” The same dress that Emily wore and the original navy maxi from the catwalk show are both available on her site.
In 2022, appetite for ’90s and noughties fashion skyrocketed—Roberto Cavalli pieces, in particular, became highly sought-after. “Roberto Cavalli really understood how to dress a woman, to make them feel sexy but classy at the same time with his body-enhancing, glamorous designs,” London-based seller and founder of My Runway Archive, Christelle McCracken, previously told British Vogue. Consider Emily’s party look further proof.
