Kim Jones’s Y2K-inspired Fendi spring 2023 collection looked to Karl Lagerfeld’s archives this season, and beauty, too—specifically the makeup—drew inspiration from the ’90s.
Makeup artist Peter Philips took the ’90s references and interpreted them as the skin being kept nude and eyebrows “made to be a bit bushier on most girls.” However, it was the glint of silver that Philips added to the model’s eyes ade what at first glance seemed like a pared-down makeup look transform into a modern grunge must-have trend. “I added a little smear of silver cream, Color Cream by Make Up Forever, topped with small duo chrome glitters on the eyes.” Meanwhile, Philips kept lips nude and just added a sheer Rouge Dior Lip Balm in a satin finish.
Hairstylist Guido Palau created soft, blown-out waves, a move in complete contrast to last season’s just-got-out-the-shower feel. The style sat in a soft middle parting, letting the hair frame the face and the natural but modern makeup.
Both the makeup and hair were the perfect backdrop for the It-accessories and the bright color palette of the clothes.
