Flip-Flop Heels Are Not Over For Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner hit pause on her swaddling knitwear streak to tap into the partywear trend for magpie sparkle this week. While The Row’s alpaca coats and mohair shirts might work for Calabasas, Sunset Boulevard called for an altogether more glitzy proposition as she hit private club Poppy for a tequila-fueled night courtesy of 818.

Engaging entrepreneur mode went a little like this for Jenner: twinkling dress + directional footwear. Her diamanté-encrusted look rivaled anything the industry witnessed at the Fashion Awards on Monday night, while Kendall’s flip-flop heels provided the cool-girl spin Jenner is carving out for herself thanks to a healthy subscription to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s school of style.

The rest of the industry might be doing cocktail hour in Loewe’s bow-bedecked sandals or tearing up the dancefloor in D’Accori’s jewel-toned and crystal-stoned heels, but Kendall is staying in her own lane and leaning on quieter fashion to fuel her journey as a stealth style influencer. Even that sequin-swathed partywear looked resolutely classic in comparison to the sheer dresses doing the rounds this season.

For a self-professed “grandma”, who likely would have preferred to private jet her way back to the comfort of her sofa (as per season two of The Kardashians), this classic-with-a-twist look nailed the brief before Jenner’s usual cosy-luxe The Row uniform resumes. Beats being a slave to the trend cycle in our books.
