How Becky G Conquered Two Awards Shows in 72 Hours

Selecting the perfect red carpet look requires careful consideration, but what happens when your schedule includes multiple high-profile events? Last week Gen Z pop star Becky G and her stylist Morgan Pinney pondered that question. Set to appear at Thursday’s Latin Grammys ceremony in Las Vegas and Sunday night’s American Music Awards, Becky needed a wardrobe worthy of these milestones. “Two major award shows back to back, performances, nominations, the fittings—it’s all happened so quickly,” she shared during a brief moment of downtime post-AMAs. “I don’t think it’s really hit me yet!”

The clothes needed to reflect that sense of excitement. At the Grammys, Becky shared the stage with one of her biggest inspirations. She and Christina Aguilera performed a spirited rendition of their hit “Pa Mis Muchachas.” To mark the occasion, Becky and Pinney opted for a sleek Adam Selman catsuit during the show and a crimson Carolina Herrera gown from Wes Gordon’s spring 2022 collection on the carpet. Covered in flowers and polka dots with a sweeping train and billowing sleeves, the look made a bold statement when she arrived at the MGM Grand.

At the AMAs, Becky took home the prize for Favorite Female Latin Artist for the second year in a row. The moment called for a high drama look, and Becky found it in Raisa Vanessa’s violet draped mini dress. The textured fabric, strategic cutouts, and crystal details along the bodice would have been arresting at any event. Still, it was pitch-perfect for running onstage to collect a well-deserved award. “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude,” says Becky. “[Just] thankful to close out the year with such a big bang!”

Below, Becky and Pinney take Vogue behind the scenes of the getting ready process.
