London Mayor’s Questions LIVE: Drivers could face ‘pay-per-mile’ tax | UK | News
The Health Secretary said he can see “no reason” why London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display can’t happen.
Sadiq Khan cancelled the event blaming Covid uncertainty and a lack of planning time and organising needed, meaning the popular display will not happen for the second year.
Speaking on LBC Sajid Javid blasted the decision saying he “can’t understand” why it can’t happen.
Mr Javid added: “I think there’s a perfectly safe way that can take place so I really don’t understand that decision. But as I say, that’s not a decision for the Government, it’s the mayor’s firework display so I hope he can reconsider it.”
Sadiq Khan has been branded “the grinch” after the cancellation with Conservative London Assembly member Tony Devenish saying he should “get the fireworks going and let’s enjoy our wonderful city”.
