Kevin Durant will continue the tradition of honoring his late Aunt Pearl with an upcoming Nike KD 16 release.
Leaked images from @kicksdong show an early look at what’s expected to be the upcoming “Aunt Pearl” KD 16 colorway. As the name suggests, the pink-based sneaker serves as a tribute to KD’s aunt, who tragically passed away from cancer when he was just 11 years old. The upper dons a light pink color scheme, while darker shades of pink fill in the mudguard on the mid-panel and the entirety of the tooling. As part of the tribute, there’s also a subtle wings and floral design on the tongue.
The “Aunt Pearl”-themed colorways in the Nike KD line kicked off with the KD 4 in 2012. Every year since, Nike has released at least one pink-based colorway of KD’s current signature shoe that pays homage to his late aunt.
There are no release details for the “Aunt Pearl” Nike KD 16 at the time of writing, but check back soon for new developments including a detailed look in the coming months.
