Kardashians don’t shop at Spirit Halloween.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s eldest child, North West, really got into the holiday spirit with her costume this year, dressing up as Michael Jackson — and completing her look with the actual hat the King of Pop wore in his “Smooth Criminal” music video back in 1988.
North sported the off-white cap — which still has remnants of the late Jackson’s makeup on top — with a leather jacket, white T-shirt and lots of face makeup.
Fans shared mixed reviews of the look, with some saying North nailed her outfit and others hoping the 9-year-old wouldn’t lose or damage the artifact at her party.
“I’m sorry but i hate that Kim be buying all the dead celebrities s—t like just leave it alone so people can view it or something wtf is north gone do with Michael’s hat i mean be f—king foreal,” one person tweeted.
Another said, “Now why the hell did Kim K need to give North West, Michael Jackson’s actual hat for Halloween. I swear half the people she dressed the kids up as don’t even know who they are dressing as smh. Let kids be kids and PICK THEIR OWN COSTUMES!”
And a third mentioned Jackson’s children — though daughter Paris appears to be on good terms with the Kardashians, even modeling for Skims earlier this year — saying, “the fact that Michael‘s kids couldn’t get this stuff and now have to watch the kardashians treat their deceased fathers historical clothing as party costume.”
The authentic memorabilia was part of a few items mom Kim purchased for North in an auction in 2019 as a Christmas present — along with a velvet jacket Jackson wore to Elizabeth Taylor’s 65th birthday party in 1997 and again at a screening of his movie “Ghosts,” for which she shelled out a whopping $65,625. The jacket was altered to fit the pre-teen in such a way that she can adjust it as she grows.
Though she did not wear the pricey jacket on Halloween, North did trot out three different costumes for Halloween.
First, she and her siblings Saint, Chicago and Psalm dressed up as iconic musicians, with North sporting head-to-toe Tommy Hilfiger as Aaliyah, 6-year-old Saint dressing up as Snoop Dogg, 4-year-old Chicago stunning as Sade and 3-year-old Psalm channeling Eazy-E.
While some fans found the carefully coordinated costumes adorable, others trolled Kardashian for seemingly forcing her kids into the looks.
“Uhm… they’re children Kim. Are you sure they don’t wanna dress up like minions or something? Just saying lol,” one person commented.
But judging by her Jackson impression, North was more than happy to pay homage to another great musician of the past with her costume.
However, her third costume was a bit more spooky — and creative. Kardashian shared a look at North and best friend Ryan, both wearing custom alien-like prosthetics, which the Skims founder said her daughter designed and created herself.
As for the makeup mogul, she once again proved her love of superheroes on the holiday, dressing up as “X-Men” mutant Mystique in a latex catsuit and bright blue makeup to match.
