Peter Bone savages Labour over freedom day resistance ‘People know best NOT the state’ | UK | News
Tory MP Peter Bone lashed out at Labour MP Alison McGovern while speaking on Newsnight. He insisted that she and the Labour Party believed the state knows best on the issue of covid protection whereas he believes the individual knows best. He called on the Labour Party to support that individuals will take responsibility for their own health and we should not delay the relaxing of coronavirus restrictions.
He continued to attack them for not supporting the removal of mandatory face-covering after July 19, freedom day.
Mr Bone said: “I noticed really that the Labour Party is fully behind these proposals except for making the mandatory use of masks.
“To suggest the Labour Party is miles apart from Government is absurd.
“I think this is freedom day, the truth is that the major unlocking occurred when we could mix at home, where we could go into pubs and restaurants, we could go to cinemas and schools were in full flow.

“I think the major unlocking has been done I just think this gets rid of the last remaining regulations and it is right to do.”
Ms Maitlis hit back saying that the issue on masks was a crucial one for many people.
She said: “It is not freedom for the person who has to take the crowded bus, cleanup the nightclub, and be surrounded by people who have made the choice not to wear a mask.
“It could then put them in danger as they go about their daily job.”
“I will wear a face mask when appropriate.”
Boris Johnson and his Government has resisted calls to push freedom day back even further due to the rise in covid cases across the country.
He has insisted that the reopening of the country is still to go ahead but has warned cautioned for all Britons.
