Now, the likes of Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will headline a brilliant line-up in North Berwick.

The Scottish Open provides the last chance to qualify for The Open and several players will be looking for impressive weeks to book their place at Royal Liverpool.

It also offers the field a chance to get to grips with the challenges and intricacies of true links golf.

The Renaissance Club is the centre-piece of Scotland’s golf coast which includes other iconic venues such as Muirfield, Gullane and North Berwick.

The course will play to a par 70 and a maximum yardage of 7,237 yards.

Renaissance has a tricky start while the finish is a classic mix of an easy par 5 followed by a demanding par 3 and a long par 4.

The short par 3 sixth is surrounded by deep pot bunkers and always provides entertainment.
